Rainbow after a Storm

A rainbow is a reminder of God’s promise. It represents hope and the idea that God can bring beauty and purpose out of pain. Before we had our son, Ezra, who arrived after eight years of waiting, we experienced a miscarriage. We had affectionately referred to the baby we lost as Heaven because We never got to know the gender, and the baby is now in Heaven with God.

Following the loss, we held onto hope, and a year later, God blessed us with Ezra—our rainbow baby. Having a rainbow baby does not replace the child or children that were lost. Instead, they’re a sign of hope that God can bring joy again. As the Bible says, “Though weeping may endure for a night, your joy is coming” (Psalm 30:5). In Isaiah 54:10, the Lord reassures us, “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken.”

This verse reminds us that God’s love remains constant, even in the midst of turmoil. He can take our pain and turn it into something beautiful and purposeful.
